Weekend Wrap-Up: 15 years and Counting

As the years go on we find new friends in school, at work, church, heck I even made a new friend in TJ Max the other day. But then we have those friends from childhood that never leave our hearts. Those "forever friends". Throughout high school, college, careers, and relationships we still keeping going back to each other. Against all odds too, because as we get older our personalities become stronger and/or even change from our 10 year old selves. 4 girls; 2 of us love Star Wars and all things nerdy, the other 2 gravitate towards chick flicks. 2 are short, 2 are tall. We range from model-thin to curvalicious. One can rock a bohemian look, the other prefers black as a wardrobe staple. Some listen to country, others wouldn't dream of turning on that station. We specialize in interior design, investments, photography, and teaching. Despite all of our little differences, there are some things that never change. We love being with each other. We have the best memories of childhood and have somehow managed to use that to build a foundation on a friendship that can stand the test of time. We love to laugh with (and at) each other. We love to shop with each other, we love to eat with each other, and we LOVE to talk, but I think what I love most of all is that we are also completely content being still. We can lay around watching a movie together, after going months without seeing each other, and feel so at home. The laying around part usually comes after the hours of talking and blaring early 2000's music, but still ;) Disclaimer: it's not all rainbows and butterflies...having friends this long means we know everything about each other. Especially the embarrassing stuff. And we are prone to let our grouchiness show and moments of delusion become transparent. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
This past weekend we had our 2nd Annual Forever Friends Weekend Getaway, (we also celebrated S's bridal shower on Sunday!!) We started doing this to devote a weekend to spending time together and catching up with each other's busy lives. Here's to many more years ladies!
